Project Development

BDC, Business Development Centre is the largest small and medium business support organization in the Ajara Region.

BDC  was founded in September 2009 as Batumi Buseinss Incubator within UNDP Project frame - Economic Development in the Ajara AR. Main goal of the Incubator was support of small and medium business on most valnuerable - startup stage of development through provision of material resources, tranings and consultations.

By the end of 2011, based on summary results of two years of operation conclusion was made that organization has much more capacity rather than utilized. In order to efficiently use organizational capacity and resources  Trade Development Centre was established within Aid for Trade in Ajara Autonomous Republic project frame, again implemented by UNDP. Through TDC Batumi Business Incubator started regular provision of consultations and trainings to all the interested private business entities including those operating outside BBI in following business related subjects:

  • International Trade: Export/Import;
  • Georgian Tax Code;
  • Practical Accounting and Taxation;
  • Entrepreneurship: Business Before Business;
  • Financial Products, Acess to Financing;
  • Logistics: Business Efficiency Management;
  • Business Law;

Results exceeded expectations. 1070 individuals became direct beneficiaries of above mentioned tranings in 2012 and more than 500 individuals in 2013. Up to 80 companies benefited from consultations of BBI exprets in business related fields. In January-Fabruary 2013 BBI conducted "Trainings Results Survey". According to survey majority of beneficiaries emphesize that:

  • Tranings have significantly increased their knowledge in above mentioned fields;
  • Trainings and consultations have very positive affect on the results of their performance at work;

By the results of 1st quarter of 2013 UNDP and Government of Ajara Autonomous Republic have decided to much more increase functions of BBI as well as its coverage area. Decision has been made to upgrade BBI to the Business Development Centre. From Spetember 2013 new digitilized services  are introduced to the Centre`s customers:

  • Distance Learning through Business Development Centre web page;
  • Live Streeming Consulting by participation of local and invited experts;
  • Facilitation and stimulation of employment in  the region;

From August 2013 Business Development Centre is main business support service provider in agribusiness field as well. Within UNDP project frame ENPARD - Support to the Agriculture Development in the Ajara Autonomous Republic BDC is working with profit oriented farmers groups for developing of their entrepreneurial skills and for assistance in developing and adjusting of business models.
